At BLS Holdings Group we believe in the importance of giving back to our community.
Our current focus is on building partnerships and support for the beautification
of Augusta’s gateways and corridors – not just for the beneficial aspect of creating
greenspace with grass, trees and flowers, but also to enhance economic development
and the visitor experience, to promote pride and unity in our city.
THE AUGUSTA GATEWAY AND CORRIDOR BEAUTIFICATION INITIATIVE
Since 2010, we have worked to establish public/private partnerships wherein local government officials, the Georgia Department of Transportation, the Augusta Convention and Visitor’s Bureau, local businesses and concerned citizens work together to beautify and maintain Augusta’s major corridors. Since being initiated by Barry Storey in 2010, our group has lead the work of this partnership by commissioning landscape plans, conducting the bid process, employing contractors, providing construction oversight and ultimately providing oversight for professional landscape maintenance on an ongoing weekly basis throughout the year.
To date, we have initiated and completed five projects in succession: Wheeler Road, the St. Sebastian Way/Medical District Initiative, Alexander Drive, a section of Doug Barnard Parkway adjacent to the Augusta Regional Airport (Phase 1), and Sand Bar Ferry Road.
- Total Number of Trees Planted: 158
- Project Area: 21,376 Linear Feet
(over 4 miles) - Design and Construction Cost:

Garden City Improvement Fund
With the leadership of the Convention and Visitor’s Bureau, our team formed the “Garden City Improvement Fund” within the Community Foundation of the Central Savannah River Area. Through the Community Foundation, businesses, foundations and individuals can make tax-deductible contributions earmarked for specific landscape improvements in the community.
